קדושת הכהנים – להביא אור, שמחה וברכה לעולם

הכהן איננו רק תפקיד. הוא שליחות. הוא נציג של קֹדֶשׁ בתוך המציאות.

המילה קֹדֶשׁ נכתבת בחולם ובסגול – צירוף של עליונות ופנימיות. החולם מעל האות, מרמז על שפע אלוקי שמאיר מִלְמַעְלָה. הסגול – שלוש נקודות היוצרות יציבות ומשולש מאוזן – מרמז על חיבור נכון בין שמים, אדם ועולם. קדושה איננה בריחה מהעולם; היא העלאת העולם.

גם ברמז שבמילה אוּ – שתי נקודות וקמץ – אנו לומדים יסוד עמוק. שתי נקודות הן בחירה: ימין ושמאל, חסד ודין. הקמץ פותח ומרחיב. המסר הוא שהכול יכול להפוך לקֹדֶשׁ כאשר האדם פותח את עצמו ומכוון מִלְמַעְלָה. המציאות כולה ממתינה לכוונה נכונה.

זהו תפקידם של הכהנים.

בברכת כהנים הם אינם מברכים מעצמם. הם צינור. כפי שנאמר:

"יְבָרֶכְךָ ה׳ וְיִשְׁמְרֶךָ… וְיָשֵׂם לְךָ שָׁלוֹם".

הכהן מעמיד את עצמו ככלי נקי כדי שהברכה תרד מִלְמַעְלָה אל העולם – שמירה, חן, אור ושלום.

הקדושה שלהם איננה פרטית. היא ציבורית. הם מחויבים לאהוב את העם, לברך בשמחה, ולהאיר פנים. תנועת הידיים כלפי מעלה וכלפי העם מבטאת אמת פשוטה: האור יורד מִלְמַעְלָה, אך הוא מיועד לכל אחד.

כאשר כהן עומד לברך באהבה, הוא מזכיר לנו שהעולם איננו הפקר. הוא שייך לקֹדֶשׁ. וכל אדם יכול לבחור להפוך את מעשיו, דיבורו ומחשבתו לכלי של אור.

כך הכהנים מביאים שמחה ואור לעולם – לא ברעש, אלא בברכה. לא בכוח, אלא בקדושה.

The Holiness of the Kohanim – Bringing Light, Joy, and Blessing to the World

A Kohen is not merely a role. It is a mission. He represents holiness within reality.

The word Kodesh (קֹדֶשׁ) is written with a cholam and a segol. The cholam rests above the letter, hinting to Divine flow shining from Above. The segol—three balanced points—suggests harmony between Heaven, humanity, and the world. Holiness is not escape from the world; it is the elevation of the world.

Even in the hint found in the word "Oo" (אוּ)—two dots and a kamatz—we see a deep principle. Two dots imply choice: right and left, kindness and restraint. The kamatz opens and expands. The message is that everything can become holy when a person opens himself upward toward Above with proper intention. All of reality waits to be elevated.

This is the task of the Kohanim.

In the Priestly Blessing, they do not bless from themselves. They are conduits. As it states:

"May HASHEM bless you and guard you… and grant you peace."

The Kohen stands as a clear vessel so blessing can descend from Above into the world—protection, grace, light, and peace.

Their holiness is not private. It is national. They are commanded to love the people, to bless with joy, and to shine with warmth. Their raised hands symbolize a simple truth: the light comes from Above, but it is meant for everyone.

When a Kohen blesses with love, he reminds us that the world is not ownerless. It belongs to holiness. And every person can choose to transform actions, speech, and thought into vessels of light.

This is how the Kohanim bring happiness and illumination to the world—not through force, but through blessing. Not through noise, but through holiness.
