בשׁם יוסף שלמה הכהן: למי שיש בו רוב מידות טובות – כך ביררנו מלימוד שפת אמת – כל דבר שהוא בא במגע עמו מקבל ניצוצות של קדושה. מפני שהאדם המתוקן פועל מתוך טהרת הלב, הוא מעלה את המציאות שסביבו ומכוון אותה לטוב, עד שגם עניינים גשמיים ופשוטים נהפכים לכלי לעבודת ה'. וזוהי במיוחד מידת הכהנים: הם נושאים בתוכם חסד, שלום ואהבת הבריות, ולכן בכוחם תמיד להפוך מצבים לטובה. כמו שברכת כהנים אינה רק מילים, אלא המשכה של שפע ותיקון לעולם, כך כל מעשה של כהן פועל תיקון והעלאה. וזהו גם עומק פחדו של פרעה, שנאמר: "פן ירבה" – לא רק ריבוי במספר פחד ממנו, אלא ריבוי של תיקון וקדושה. פרעה חש שהעם ישראל, בהיותם בעלי מידות מתוקנות, יהפכו את מצרים עצמה, מקום הטומאה, למקום שיש בו אור. כי כאשר הטוב הוא הרוב, אפילו החושך נכנע לו. ומכאן נלמד, שכאשר אדם – ובפרט כהן – עובד על מידותיו ומרבה בטוב, כל מקום שהוא מגיע אליו מתברך, וכל מצב נהפך לכלי של קדושה ותיקון. ארבע מדרגות בעבודת ה׳ – דבר תורה בשם יוסף שלמה כהן בשיעור תורה שלמדתי מפי יוסף שלמה כהן, נלמד יסוד עמוק ופשוט כאחד: ישנן ארבע מדרגות בעבודת ה׳, וכל אדם יכול לעבור ביניהן במהלך חייו, ולעיתים אף באותו יום ממש. עם העלייה במדרגה – כך גם רמת השמחה בעבודת ה׳ הולכת וגדלה. המדרגות הן: עבד – שר – בן – בת זוג עבד – קבלת עול ושמחה מצומצמת המדרגה הראשונה היא מדרגת העבד. זהו אדם שעובד את ה׳ מתוך קבלת עול. הוא מקיים מצוות כי כך צריך, כי זו האמת, גם אם הלב עדיין לא תמיד מרגיש חיבור ושמחה גדולה. השמחה כאן קיימת, אך היא מצומצמת. זוהי שמחה של נאמנות, של עשייה נכונה, אך עדיין עם כובד מסוים. שר – אחריות, השפעה ושמחה חלקית המדרגה השנייה היא שר. כאן האדם כבר לא רק מקיים, אלא לוקח אחריות ומשפיע על הסביבה. יש הנהגה, סדר ותפקיד. אך בעבודת השר יש עדיין רק חצי מאמץ – הוא עושה את שלו, אך לא נותן את כל הלב. ולכן גם השמחה היא שמחה חלקית: גדולה יותר משל העבד, אך עדיין מוגבלת. בן – קרבה, אהבה ושמחה רחבה המדרגה השלישית היא מדרגת בן. כאן הקשר עם ה׳ הוא קשר של אהבה ו...
